Student Drivers Education will be offered through Garrison High School.
The cost will be $200/student. Payments can be made at the Garrison High School Office. Please make checks out to Garrison High School.
The 30-hour classroom portion will be from 4PM-9PM on May 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26.
Attendance is mandatory for all classroom sessions! If you must miss any class, you will be asked to take the class next summer. We will have a working dinner each day in order to maximize our time and complete the class in a shorter time, so please bring something to eat each day.
The class will be taught by Jason Schwarz, a driver education teacher in the Minot Public Schools. He has been involved in teaching driver education over the past 16 years, and have taught in several North Dakota communities, both small and large.
The requirements for our driver education class consist of 30 hour of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. Students must be age 14 before they may do the driving portion. Jason Schwarz suggests all students get their permits before the class (this is not mandatory.) Upon completion of the course, all students will receive a completion certificate.
The driving portion will consist of a total of 6 hours of driving per student. There will be a sign-up sheet on the first day of class and everyone should be ready to try and get scheduled at that time. Jason’s schedule is busy and the days he is available vary. Some students may not get an opportunity to drive until later dates, Jason is hoping to get everyone done by August.
There will be a zero tolerance for any behavior issues! Any student that causes problems will be removed completely from the class. A higher maturity level must be maintained in preparation to drive. A lack of maturity means the student is not ready for the driving experience. Safety is of great importance, and any lack of maturity puts other people’s lives at risk. Students removed from the class may attempt to take the class again the following summer.
If you have any questions about the course, contact Jason at 701-500-9969 or email email@example.com or on Facebook at ABC Minot Driving School, LLC.
The Garrison Public School Board invites the public to participate in a school demographic planning meeting to fulfill requirements under NDCC Section 15.1-07-26. This open public meeting will be held on May 9, 2016 at 7:00 pm in the High School Library. At this forum, the school board will discuss and receive public input on how three- and five-year demographics may impact academic and extracurricular programs, instructional and administrative staffing, facility needs and utilization, district tax levies, and the district’s strategic plan.
Box Tops are due to the elementary school by the end of the
