All,
Keith is driving the north route to Douglas and his bus broke down. Mr. Dangel is on his way with another bus, but will be late. Those impacted include those north to Douglas and south to Fort Stevenson. Text Keith if you can take your children to school or call the school, so it can be relayed to him.
Thanks.

All,
We are planning to start school on time tomorrow as the roads have cleared off. Please allow for extra time to travel. If the rain has made your roads less than favorable for buses, please contact your driver. Drivers will also use their discretion. I understand some spots will likely be a slow go once it freezes tonight. I will be driving the White Shield route. Should anything change, I will send an alert in the morning.

All,
I’ve been out and about the last couple hours, and I can officially report that the roads have not improved—unless your definition of “improved” is “now slightly more apocalyptic.” To quote a 2nd grader on the bus this morning, “the apocalypse is coming…” and honestly, after what I’ve seen, I’m not ready to argue with them.
We’ve already had one bus stuck tonight, and the forecast is calling for rain at 5:00 a.m., followed by winds strong enough after lunch to make North Dakota feel like it’s trying to relocate itself to Minnesota. Visibility will likely drop to “I swear there was a road here yesterday,” assuming the forecast is right—and the wind is always right.
With that said, we will NOT be having school on Tuesday. This also means all practices and games are cancelled. Please stay safe, stay warm, and resist the urge to build a bunker.

Bob Callies Elementary School held a friendly competition between the classrooms for a great cause in November! Students collected spare change--and through their generosity--almost $550 was given to GARC for Gifts from the Heart! With the Twice Blessed Campaign, their donation was doubled! SACA donated movie tickets to the students in the class who raised the most money! Congratulations to Mr. Belisle's 6th grade class, and to this awesome local collaboration!

Reminder to elementary students: bring all winter snow gear for outdoor recess. Thank you!

All, I began questioning my life choices as to why I live in ND at about 5 this morning by receiving a phone call from a neighboring school district. Then leaving my house around 5:10... You guessed it... Snow, snow, and more snow. The state plows have been out since about 5, but the county plows were still in the yard at 5:40 when I went by. They're waiting for the light. There's drifting on both east/west roads and north/south with reduced travel speeds. The highway had not yet been plowed west of Garrison when I drove, so speeds there were also limited. Therefore, school will be starting at 10 this morning with staff reporting at 9:45. This means there will be no morning breakfast today. Safe travels! Dr. K.

All,
I just got back to town from driving bus and still no snow. The forecast shows 0-20" of snow pending who your favorite weatherman is. Therefore, I will be out and about at 5:30 tomorrow morning. I will make the call to delay or cancel school pending whose forecast is correct. As always, parents have the ability to make the decision for your own child. Also, with three impending storm please make sure your children have appropriate winter attire for school and if they ride bus. Stay turned for more info...

Tonight's JH game has been postponed due to impending weather conditions. We are looking to reschedule. They will not have practice either so please make arrangements with the school if they need to ride the bus home. High school girls will still practice.

Congratulations to Mrs. Cyndie Behles for receiving the Most Extra Award today! Mrs. Behles was recognized by Ms. Miller for this award. The nomination states Mrs. Behles is "my go-to when things just won't work, my calm in the chaos, and my laugh when I need one most. As our Instructional Support and Technology Integration expert, she wears more hats than anyone I know-and somehow manages to make it all look easy...Cyndie is constantly researching, supporting, and finding ways to lift both staff and students-academically, emotionally, and sometimes just with the perfect dose of positivity." It was noticed the Mrs. Behles had even held an after-school Wizard of Oz party for her reading group, complete with delicious snacks she provided! Congratulations, Mrs. Behles! You truly are Most Extra, in the very best way possible!

Our annual Santa's Workshop at the elementary school will be held on December 17. If you have any items you'd be willing to donate to our elementary student council booth, the proceeds of this booth will help fund field trips and events such as our annual Christmas movie. In addition, these items will be available for any student who does not bring money to shop for a family member so every child gets to shop at the workshop, regardless of funds available. Please contact Mrs. Fuller if you have questions or donations (small new or gently used toys, mugs, unopened candy, holiday decor, etc.). Thank you for your consideration!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Garrison School District Choir and Band Concert scheduled for November 25 has been canceled. We understand this news may be disappointing to students, families, and community members who were looking forward to this event, and we appreciate your understanding and support during this time.
We are incredibly proud of our student musicians and grateful for the continued encouragement they receive from our school community. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this unexpected change.

Happy World Kindness Day from Bob Callies Elementary School and our 4th Grade Guardians! They helped decorate our main hallway with a Kindness tree from handprints that teachers and students created! What a nice way to start today!

Dress appropriately for the cold ND weather. At the elementary school, we go outside for recess unless there is an active wind chill warning or advisory or if it is actively raining/deemed too wet. If the wind chill is –10 degrees F, we will go outside for 15 minutes of our 30 minute recess and spend the other 15 minutes for indoor recess. We use the KFYR-TV First Warn weather app for the most up to date weather information. When there is snow on the ground: • All students must wear snow boots to play on the playground. (stand on the sidewalk if no boots) • All students must wear snow pants to play on the playground. (stand on the sidewalk if no snow pants) • Head covering and mittens or gloves are required. • Scarves are recommended. • If a child comes unprepared, he or she will be cold and/or wet for the remainder of the day. If it is a chronic issue parents will be contacted.
Teachers in classrooms have a limited number of extras on hand, but cannot store enough for an entire classroom. Please remember that our local Garrison Area Resource Center has resources available. If you are having issues with getting warm winter gear, please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Fuller so we can assist you and/or make arrangements until gear is available. We don't want any of our students to be cold outside! Thank you for your attention to this matter.
