Attention Elementary Students and Families: With school closure, tomorrow's plans will be postponed to Friday, January 6, 2023. We will plan our movie for that morning and our New Year's celebrations that afternoon in lieu of our planned activities for tomorrow. Any concessions money and gifts you have sent in will be kept for use on that date. We sent all of the students' winter items home with them today in case of school closure so they can enjoy their break. It has certainly been a challenging and interesting winter so far! We appreciate your flexibility and understanding with all of the changes, and hope that the break and new year will bring a fresh start and better weather! Stay safe and warm, enjoy your family and friends, and I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ~Mrs. Fuller

All,
The forecast tomorrow is awful, as Mother Nature continues to be off her meds. The temps with wind chill is forecasted to be at -55 plus blizzard conditions. This will be a stretch for our buses. Drivers will proceed with extreme caution as always and use their discretion. In addition, I will have two buses in the the oven at school should I need to go out if there are any issues. PLEASE ensure all students have necessary winter gear for the next two days of school.
Thanks.
Dr. K.

Thank you all for being so understanding with all the changes.

The FFA fruit delivery has been delayed. Students will prepare and deliver on Monday!

All,
There will be no school on Friday. I have talked to numerous people and most of the county roads are packed full of snow. I know city and state crews will be out early, but we’d be missing a third to half of our students plus several employees because of where they reside. I’ve never canceled this many days of school in a row or year for that matter and hope I never have to again. Regarding make up days those will come when the board meets next and the information will be shared. Just think… one more week of school until Christmas break!
Dr. K.

One more update: The JH game on Saturday against Washburn has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

UPDATES: GBB and BBB in Flasher has been postponed to a later date, and information is to come as it gets planned. The Linton Holiday Wrestling tournament has been canceled. JH State Wrestling is still on as planned for Saturday.

All,
I’ve been out cruising the country side. The east west roads aren’t too bad and the north south ones have more drifting. My plan, for now, is to start school on time. The city did a great job cleaning the streets this morning along with the state highway department. However, the county crews, unfortunately, have not been out yet. I have expressed my concerns regarding this. During my travels, county road 15 running north of Garrison is nearly plugged completely shut. Anyone living on or near this road will need to find an alternate route until it’s reopened. As for buses, they will run where possible and drive at their discretion. If your road is not passable or you choose to drive your child, please contact your driver. If anything changes, I will send another alert tomorrow morning.
Thank you.
Dr. K.

All,
April Fools… I wish it was April anyways. Apparently, I should have listened to my father when he said never trust a weatherman. That being said, the forecast has changed considerably with another cruise and if you look out your window along with the storm warning now being extended to Friday. Additionally, the wind is supposed to blow like a banchee, which makes seeing nearly impossible with all this light fluffy gross stuff we are getting now. Therefore, I'm left with no choice but to cancel school once again. No school for Thursday!
Dr. K.

All, the forecast continues to be doom and gloom unless you like snow, but on the plus side I haven’t moved snow at the school… yet. Anyways, we will not have school on Wednesday. The the weatherman informed me we are projected for another 8-12”.
In other news, Santa’s Workshop will still happen on Thursday. I will be at the elementary school from 3:00-5:00 for businesses to do drop offs.
Thanks.
Dr. K.

Basketball Updates! Tonight's JV GBB game has been postponed to a later date. Tomorrow's GBB vs DLB has been postponed to Dec 19th, Time will be announced soon. BBB in Hazen has been postponed to January 10th with games starting at 4:30, 6 and 7:30. Stay tuned for updates as they come in.

All,
Based on the current forecast paired with freezing rain happening just to the south, I believe it’s in our best interests to cancel school tomorrow, Tuesday. A decision regarding Wednesday will come tomorrow as the reports for Wednesday also look like garbage. Teachers have been instructed to provide enrichment opportunities for students that are not a burden to parents. Regarding any storm make up, this is a board decision but I do I believe they will take the enrichment under advisement.
Stay safe and warm!
Dr. K.

We are grateful to have our partnership with Fort Stevenson to allow our students unique opportunities. Today, some fifth and sixth grade students were able to try kick sleds, snow shoes, and fat tire bikes. It was an excellent time!

We have changes in Monday's schedule for our Girls Basketball. The JH game in South Prairie has been canceled. The home game against Solen has been changed from Varsity to a JV game. It is scheduled to start at 6 pm. We will be keeping a constant eye on the weather conditions and will do any updates if games will be postponed. Have a great weekend.

We have the joy of sharing two winter concerts with you on Thursday, December 8, 2022, both at the Garrison High School gym! Our K-6 elementary students will perform at 1:00 PM. Our 7-12 band and choir students have their concert performance at 7:00 PM. We hope you can join us!
