A little more news about Prom! There will be a meeting on Monday, the 15th at 6pm at the City Park to discuss options for prom. There is a lot of interest from parents to make this a fun event for our kids, so please share and join the meeting on Monday.

News from the Prom Committee concerning this years prom: Unfortunately GHS will not be able to have prom this year. There is still an executive order restricting the number of people to 15 people per room within a school. Sorry for the delay in the announcement but we were hoping more restrictions would be lifted. Other communities are having prom through parent-led initiatives that are not on school grounds. If there is a group interested in doing this, we could arrange for the already-purchased prom decorations to be used.

Lisa Maki and Duane Hummel have secured their positions on the school board but the race between Kelly Cooper and Julie Retterath is too close to call until all postmarked ballots are received prior to canvassing.

Dr. K. here.... with some updates. The school calendar is now updated on our website and has the ends of the quarters along with PT Conferences on it. The high school remodel is making progress. Drywall is starting to in along with the new steel beams. I would estimate us to be about 2/3’s done with this project. All the new lights are in the gymnasium along with those above the stage. Regarding the elementary all the classrooms that we could empty have been emptied. The northern half of the elementary has the new ceiling tiles in and the new light fixtures will be nearing completion at day’s end today in this part of the building. All the hallways floors have been stripped and the old lighting will begin being removed in the old part of the building tomorrow. Flooring guys still have carpet to remove in both buildings. Once this is completed they have to put a contact glue down before they can lay the carpet tiles. This process should begin approximately Thursday with carpet hopefully starting the end of next week. Painting is nearly complete in both buildings with only touch-ups to do along with trim work and the upper walls in the elementary gym.

This is the Garrison 2020 FFA Awards Video. It is usually shown at the banquet. This video was created to show the member's accomplishments throughout the 2019-2020 year, which would usually take place at the FFA banquet. Graduation 2020
Based upon the current forecast, we are moving forward with graduation inside our gymnasium. We will only be allowing the graduates and their parents to attend the ceremony. Chairs have been set for our students and parents adhering to the guidance. Parents will have assigned seats, as they will be handing out the diplomas to their child. Please enter through the west doors of the gymnasium starting at 1:15 for parents. Graduates need to be at the school by 12:00. The ceremony will still be on FacebookLive, Zoom, and will be recorded. Hand sanitizer stations will be set up upon entry and all are expected to maintain social distancing. The locker room will be used for bathrooms. We understand this may not be the ideal graduation, but we are doing are best given the current situation. Respectfully, Dr. Nick Klemisch

Reverse Parade to Celebrate the Class of 2020: On Sunday we will hold a reverse parade for the graduates. In a reverse parade the graduates will be sitting on Main Street. The city of Garrison will do the drive by to honk, cheer, and celebrate the accomplishments of this years class. Line up behind the Garrison Police Chief and SRO Dave Kamp at 2:45 at the Wally the Walleye on the north end of Main Street. After graduation the parade will begin when the graduates are in place and on Main Street. We hope to see everyone there. Mr. Dangel

All... Graduation will be on Facebook Live and zoom. We will also be recording it and it will be aired on our local RTC channel, as soon as they are able to upload it. The zoom link will be going out in an email later this week and posted to a variety of sites; however, we are recommending you watch it on Facebook because it can handle a larger volume of people to watch it. Regarding graduation, only parents and siblings will be allowed on the football field. The first row of parking will be reserved for parents of graduates along the practice field offering a good view. We will be using an outdoor audio system, so it should provide for better sound. All of this is of course is contingent upon weather. The forecast is calling for rain. In the event it rains, graduation will be moved into the high school gymnasium. If this occurs, only graduates and parents will be allowed into the gymnasium and we will zoom, facebook live, and record the ceremony for others to see. We will make this decision on Saturday afternoon. Thank you.

Aaron Johnson has been selected as a State Star Farmer finalist and Skyla Folden has been selected as a State Star in Ag Placement finalist! Both individuals have earned their spots as finalists due to their passion for agriculture and their work in their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects. As a finalist, they are in the top two in the state that submitted an application in their award area. Each individual will be submitting a video of their SAE and we will be waiting to hear who the State Stars are, which will be announced the first week of June. Congratulations Aaron and Skyla, we are so proud of you!!

Good afternoon from Mr. Dangel. Students, the 2019-2020 school year is quickly coming to an end. Even though it ended in a much different way than we were hoping, I am very proud of you. Students and teachers did extremely well with our distance learning plan. You all made the very best of a crummy situation. If you meet with your teacher’s this week on zoom or are going to send them an email, please thank them for all of the work they have put into our distance learning plan. Students, I can’t find the words to tell you how proud I am of you. Thank you. Thank you for all you have done. With that being said, this is a reminder that all assignments are to be turned into your teachers by Monday, May 18. Since there is no finals this year, we will use May 19 and 20 to turn in ChromeBooks/textbooks/other school materials and pick up your personal locker items. Just like when we picked up our items at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, I have broken students down into small groups to return items. Students will come to the main office door. Mrs. Honrud or Mr. Dangel will grab your school items and give you a bag with all your locker items. If you still have items in your PE locker, we also have those bagged up. Since the Governor’s Executive Order is still in effect, we can’t allow you in the school. 7th Grade — Tuesday May 19 Andrews — Houser — 9-9:30 Iglehart — Perkins — 10-10:30 Poitra — Zeiszler — 11-11:30 8th Grade — Tuesday May 19 Baker — Krzmarzick— 12-12:30 Meyers — Torno — 1-1:30 9th Grade — Tuesday May 19 Aasand — Franklin — 2-2:30 Gehring — Kallberg — 3-3:30 9th Grade— Wednesday May 20 Keller -- Pochant 9-9:30 Schenfisch — Zook — 9:30-10 10th Grade — Wednesday May 20 Aasand — Minoza — 10-10:30 Meyers — Zeiszler — 11-11:30 11th Grade — Wednesday May 20 Alyea — Huesers — 12-12:30 Jeffrey — Mautz — 1-1:30 McCullough — Zook — 2-2:30 12th Grade — Wednesday May 20 Bendickson — Lagge — 2:50-3:20 Mautz — Young’s — 3:30-4 If you are part of the Yearbook Staff or you are taking Drivers Education from us, you will be allowed to keep your ChromeBook for now. You will still need to come to the school and let us know the reason for keeping your ChromeBook and also pick up your personal items from your locker. I hope you all finish strong and have a great summer. Seniors, I will miss your leadership, positive attitudes, and the overall excitement you brought to our building. 7th-11th graders, I will be counting down the days to August 19, 2020. I can’t wait to have my students back in my building. Mr. Dangel
