This is Mrs. Angela Coble and she is our new math teacher at the high school. She moved to North Dakota from New Mexico; however, she calls South Carolina home. The military moved our family to Minot, but Garrison is where we wanted to settle. They enjoy the small town atmosphere. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching The Office, and playing Pokémon Go (yes, she STILL plays). Please make Mrs. Coble feel welcome.

Elementary Families: We didn’t activate parent access on Powerschool for elementary students yet, so if you are getting an error screen when logging in, it isn’t your error. We had so many new students register and still haven’t heard from some if they are returning, so it will take at least until Monday to get class lists ready for everyone to see for sure. (We don’t want people to think it is one teacher and then have it change due to someone not returning and have unequal class sizes.) Thanks for your understanding and patience!

This is Mrs. Samantha Callaway and she will be teaching fifth grade this year. She just moved to North Dakota from Midwest Missouri and is thrilled to work in the Garrison school district as this small town community reminds me of the last district she worked in. When she doesn't have the pleasure of working with students, She loves to travel. Last year alone, she traveled to 7 countries across Europe. Please welcome Mrs. Callaway!

She grew up and graduated from Drake, ND. and then went on to get her Early Childhood and Elementary Education degrees from the University of Mary. Since then she taught first/second grade in Bowbells, kindergarten in Garrison and then kindergarten in Max. Her and her family live in Max and they have two little boys. She recently graduated from UTA with my Masters in Education, so she am excited to start her next teaching adventure in Garrison as the first grade teacher. She loves that she gets the opportunity to come back and teach with such wonderful people again in Garrison. Life took her to another school for a while but coming back she knows will benefit her family and grow her skills as a teacher. She's excited to have a co-teacher again and work as a team to make this year amazing! This summer has been filled with spending as much time with her family at the lake camping. Camping is pretty new to them, but her boys have been loving every second of it! Please welcome back Mrs. Larson!

All, 1. The school board approved our safety plan and here are some of the important aspects: a. Color levels are determined by the Governor. b. Masks are encouraged during the green and blue levels. c. Masks are required in any district owned transportation, whether you’re on a route or for an activity. d. All students are expected to have at least 3 masks in their possession during the week, should we be moved to another level. e. School lunch for grades 7-12 will now be served at the high school. f. School meals will most likely be items easier to pack up and be easily distributed. 2. The school board also approved our distance learning/hybrid plans and here are some of the important aspects: a. Attendance is a mandatory requirement by the state for the school to account for on a regular basis. b. The requirements are more stringent for distance learning then this past spring in order to meet the new state requirements. c. If we are moved to either a Yellow or Orange level, we will be utilizing the hybrid plan. Things I am encouraging all to do: 1. Please read through both of these documents. 2. Understand they were created based on the current guidance AND can change. 3. Remember the F-word…flexibility. These times are incredibly challenging, not to mention stressful, and things can change at the drop of a hat. 4. Be prepared for school closures…it is not a matter of if but when. 5. Decisions being made are using the best information at the time and we know it will not be palatable for all. 6. We are not medical professionals but have to adhere to what is being prescribed to us to do in event of an active case or cases. 7. Please adhere to the checklist in the safety plan and do NOT send your child to school if they are sick! The safety and distance learning plans can be found under our COVID tab on our website or in the COVID documents tab from our app. Here are the links to these plans. Safety Plan: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/838774/Garrison_Public_School_Restart_Guidelines_COVID_19.pdf Distance Learning/Hybrid: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/838773/Distance_Learning_Plan_2020-21.pdf Lastly, I cannot stress enough the need for everyone to be flexible. These are incredibly uncertain times, but we will make the best of this situation and work through these things the best we can. Should you have any questions, please contact either of the building principals or myself. Respectfully, Dr. Nick Klemisch

This is Miss Gilseth and she will be teaching Kindergarten this year. She was born and raised in Minot, ND and chose Garrison because it is close to home. Also, she wanted to be a part of a community that she's always heard so many good things about. She enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her two dogs, Opal and Bandit. Please make her feel welcome.

This is Mr. Divins and he will be teaching Kindergarten. He came from Brooksville, Florida and is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania. He chose Garrison because he has always dreamed of living in North Dakota. He was looking for a small town with a strong sense of community. He heard and read wonderful things about Garrison. What better place to call his new home. He enjoys getting in the car and exploring North Dakota and all it has to offer. Please make him feel welcome.

Hello all! We understand that the discussion of reopening schools can be a “hot topic” issue for some but we also feel that the discussion of how that might take place still needs to happen. Our Garrison Public School COVID-19 Response Team has come up with a draft Health and Safety Plan. The plan can be viewed here: https://tinyurl.com/y2b4rroh Please provide feedback via this survey: https://forms.gle/bwc1TvD3ASAPnXy97 We ask that each person only fill out the survey once.
