We are sticking with our original plan with school starting at 10:00 am and staff reporting at 9:30. Buses will run where possible using driver's discretion. Plows have been out on most paved roads. Speeds are still reduced, but the visibility is great. Oh, and it's a beautiful full moon. Have a great day!
Dr. K.

All,
Roads have become increasingly more compacted with ice on the highways and county/gravel roads have really filled in with snow. Plows had not been down the roads I have traveled nor the people I reached out to. Therefore, we are delaying the start of school to 10:00 am with staff reporting at 9:30. Conditions will again be evaluated and a decision regarding the rest of the day will be made by no later than 8:30. Thank you.

Today, Board Chairman Rodger Affeldt, was recognized at the School Board Convention for his 22 year of service on the Garrison Public School Board. We are grateful for his dedication, leadership, and most of all his dedication to our students. Congrats Rodger!

All,
Some have asked why we do not do virtual learning days like some districts do. I'm collecting data on whether or not the board should consider it as an option. Please read the description of virtual learning along with current practices. The survey can be found here:

Thanks.

All..
There is compacted snow/ice on the highways, but plows were out as of 5:10. However, travel speeds are reduced given the road conditions. Visibility is good and gravel roads are also much better than they were yesterday. School will start on time today, but please allow for extra time for travel. Yes, the forecast is showing more snow throughout the day into tonight, but given current conditions paired with crews on roadways I believe this is the right decision. Should we need to dismiss early, a notification will be sent if necessary. As always, parents have the final decision as to whether or not you choose to send your children to school on days with weather.
Dr. K.

All...
I was just out checking roads. East/West on 37 are wet and still driving at normal speeds. North on 37, about 5 miles, snow is starting to accumulate and there is slush on the highway. Gravel roads are obviously wet and gummy. Highway 83 a few miles south of Max is starting to accumulate snow and get icy with roads getting worse further north.
School and buses with dismiss at normal times today (3:00 pm). As always, I will be out in the morning and will make any weather related decision no later than. 6:10 am
