Any Jrs and Srs that registered for College English, College Algebra, or College Speech, you need to be admitted to Bismarck State College before you can take these classes. This should have been done last spring, if you haven’t, please go online and take care of this immediately. There will be a $35 processing fee.
Also, if you did not score a high enough score on your ACT or you haven’t taken the ACT, you will need to contact Bismarck State and schedule the Accuplacer.
If you have any question, please contact Mr. Dangel at the High School, 701-463-2818. Thank you

All…
The attached documents show all the improvements made to both the elementary and high school totaling nearly $5.5 million over the last 4 years or so. This was achieved by sound budgeting, grants, ESSER funding, and the transfer of any additional dollars in the general fund to the building fund. This transfer is important to note because once these dollars are in the building funds they can only be used for building needs… no salaries. Additionally, the district has not increased its tax levies in nearly seven years. The only “new” dollars we receive are when taxable valuations increase.

In light of the future bond vote, we have heard some questions specific to those who are 65 years old or older and on a fixed income. The Homestead Property Tax Credit and Renter’s Refund are property tax credits available to eligible North Dakotans. Individuals may qualify for a property tax credit or partial refund of the rent they pay, if one of the following requirements is met:
1. 65 years of age or older, OR
2. An individual with a permanent or total disability
Proof of total disability must be established by a certificate from a licensed physician or a written determination of disability from the Social Security Administration or federal or state agency authorized to certify an individual’s disability. There is no age requirement for those with permanent or total disability.
A homeowner or renter with disability must meet the same requirements, except for age, as a senior citizen homeowner or renter.
For a married couple who are living together, only one may apply for the Homestead Property Tax Credit or Renter’s Refund. Only the spouse applying for the credit needs to be 65 years of age or older, or permanently and totally disabled.
For more information on the Homestead Tax Credit, please view this website: https://www.tax.nd.gov/tax-exemptions-credits/property-tax-exemptions/homestead-property-tax-credit-and-renters-refund

We will be hosting public tours of our facilities on August 8 and on August 16 at 6:00 pm. They will start at the high school and then move to the elementary school when the first tour is complete. If you have not been in the buildings for the past year(s), it would be great for you to see what has all been done. All are welcome to attend. We will also have available the tax calculator if you would like to see what your taxes could increase by should the bond pass. Please bring this year's tax statement, if not, we can also look them up. If you cannot attend either, please contact me at the school and I will make arrangements to give you a tour.
August 30, 2022 starting at 6:00 pm in the High School multipurpose room we will have a public forum specific to the bond referendum. The architect, construction, manager, and I will provide an overview of the project and will answer any question regarding the project. Again, all are welcome to attend.
Thank you,
Dr. K.

Tonight, the school board voted to move forward with the bond election, which take a maximum of $5 million to go towards the building of an activity center, updating current locker rooms, and site improvements (parking lot). The bond vote will on September 6, 2022 from 7 am to 7 pm. We will host a public forum asking with tours of existing buildings with dates to be determined. Attached is a rendering of what would be constructed should the bond pass.

Reminder! Tomorrow at 9-1 at the High School

All (please read and share),
Over the past 3 years, the district has completed nearly $5.5 million dollars in updates to both school buildings addressing all major capital maintenance items, uniform cosmetic updates, and a new ag shop. This was done through the savings of our building fund, several grants, and the sale of bonds against our building fund. Now, the Garrison School Board has a decision to make as they will be having a special board meeting this coming Monday at 6:00 pm to determine if the district should move forward with a bond referendum regarding an Activity Center and an update to the current locker rooms. The Citizens' Advisory Committee has recommended they move forward with the bond vote and the final decision rests with the school board. The bond would be seeking $5 million with the remainder of the funds coming from our building fund savings. This addition to the high school is being considered because we host 90+ events in our high school gymnasium each school year out of approximately 175 school days. In turn, this then displaces all other activities to other areas of both buildings to perform their practices. Nearly one-third to one-half of all our students are involved in activities and sports. The activity center would benefit both school buildings within the district as the elementary gymnasium is not suitable for hosting events.
Estimated tax increases for individuals are $68.44 for a $100,000 home, and $136.87 for a $200,000 home. For ag land valued at $1,000/acre it would be approximately $.76/acre. A tax calculator will be developed for individuals to calculate your potential increases should the board elect to move forward with this bond.
**If you have any questions, comments, or concerns I recommend you reach out to me at nick.klemisch@k12.nd.us or 701-463-2818 or contact an individual board member. Their contact information is on our website. Should the board elect to move forward with this referendum more information, tours, and a public forum will be held for the community. A date for the actual bond vote will also be decided. Attached is a rendering of the proposed plan. The parking lot will be reconfigured and we will actually gain more spaces then what we currently have.**
Respectfully,
Dr. K.
